RIVERDALE SCHOOL DISTRICT REGULAR BOARD MEETING MINUTES March 9, 2026 The March 9, 2026 meeting of the Riverdale School Board was called to order by Bill Tracy Jr. at 6:00 p.m. in the Library of the Riverdale Elementary Building, located in the Village of Muscoda. Present from the Board were Bill Tracy Jr., Gary Stanek, Dave McHenry, Marc Couey, Amanda Kinyon, Darren Miller, Nick Stitzer, and Darin Miess. Veronica Harris was absent. Motion by Stanek and second by Miess to approve the proof of publication for the meeting. Motion carried. Motion by McHenry and second by Kinyon to approve the consent agenda, district vouchers, the minutes the regular board meeting of February 9th, the building/grounds and transportation meeting of March 4th, and the finance meeting of March 5th, 2026. Motion carried. Roll call vote. 8-0 Motion by Stitzer and second by Miller to approve the activity accounts as presented. Motion carried. Roll call vote. 8-0 Student Council members reported on some of the class activities and extra-curriculars going on at the junior and senior high school. Mr. Campbell gave the board a reminder of the Policy meeting on March 25th at 5:00 pm and Negotiations Meeting on April 8th at 5:00. The Avoca United Methodist Church gave a $100.00 lunch donation. The Meister family donated a 1998 baby grand piano to the district. The district wellness day was on March 25th with numerous donations received from local business. There were three rotations - nutrition, stretch and yoga, a poker walk. Blood pressure screenings were also available. Mr. Campbell gave sports projections of the different sports available at Riverdale. Mrs. Ploeckelman, Elementary Principal, informed the board that with the change to 10 parent approved days allowed per school year vs 10 days per semester, they have not seen a large improvement in attendance. Month to month comparisons from the 24-25 school year to this year, the daily average of percentage of students present at each grade level is within 2-3% points of each other. We should start to see an increase now, as students are reaching their 10 day limit. The well attended 6th grade spring concert was on February 16th. Students have shown great improvement in their abilities from the previous concert. Ms. Feuersthaler has done a nice job growing this program. Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Daly held an Hour of Code with students in 5K-3rd grade. 6th graders helped the younger students with their activities of Indi Cars, various robots, and learned about AI. 4K screening was a success with 38 students signed up and 37 students attending. There were no new concerns found during screening. Overall, the teachers noticed a decrease in Speech concerns and an increase in families open enrolling for 4K. Mrs. Gruen, Junior/Senior High School Principal, gave the board an update that Juniors will take the ACT on March 10th while 7-10 and 12 graders will do a virtual learning day. On February 23-27 National FFA week was celebrated with a medallion hunt, daily FFA trivia challenges, dress up days, and an assembly. Thirty-five mathematicians went to Fennimore for the SWAL Math Contest on March 4th. Allison Adams took silver in Algebra 1, Archer Hohler and Elly Steiber took bronze in Geometry, Abe Schaefer took bronze in Algebra 2, and Megan Kreul and Macy McKay took bronze in Calculus. Overall, we took 4th place. Elizabeth Miess was 4th overall out of 80 junior high students. Wyatt Schramm, James Schramm, Brody Miess, Lakota Brewer, and Grant Mathews qualified for the state wrestling tournament. Wyatt took 6th, Brody and Lakota both took 5th, and Grant was the runner up. Cayley Carter and Carter Degenhardt qualified for the state powerlifting. Both Cayley and Cater placed 13th out of 25 lifters. Riverdale Showcase Night is on March 19th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the JH/HS building. All 4K-12 families and community members are invited to attend. The Showcase will feature music performances, art displays, drama and forensics performances, student displays, a book fair, a 50/50 raffle, and a complimentary meal. Motion by Stitzer and second by Couey to approve the Academic and Career Plan as presented. Motion carried. Motion by Couey and second by Miller to approve the 10-year maintenance plan as presented. Motion carried. Motion by Stanek and second by McHenry to approve the fall Dual Credit Courses for 2026-2027 as presented. Motion carried. Roll call vote. 6-0-2 with Kinyon and Miess abstaining. Motion by Miess and second by Miller to approve the resignation from Kevin Remington, 5 hour custodian, effective March 6, 2026. Motion carried. Motion by McHenry and second by Stitzer to approve the 2026-2027 CESA 3 contract for services totaling $96,618.00. Motion carried. Roll call vote. 8-0 Motion by Couey and second by Stitzer to adjourn into closed session under Wis. Stat. SS19.85(1)(c) considering employment, promotion, compensation or performance evaluation data of any public employee over which the governmental body has jurisdiction or exercises responsibility and Wis. Stat. SS19.85(1)(f) considering financial, medical, social, or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons except where par. (b) applies which, if discussed in public, would be likely to have a substantial adverse effect, upon the reputation of any person referred to in such histories or data, or involved in such problems or investigations. Motion carried. Motion by Couey and second by Miess to hire Carson Kinyon as a junior high football coach for the 2026-2027 school year. Motion carried. Motion by Stitzer and second by Miller to hire Benjamin Husted as a 5 hour custodian. Motion carried. Motion to adjourn by McHenry and second by Stanek. Motion carried.
